Hello! My name is Alisha. I love to cook, bake, spend time with my husband, play with my dogs, entertain my chinchilla, and do projects around my home. My husband and I bought a house in July of 2015, so there are still a lot of projects that I’m looking to tackle. We’re both teachers, so we keep pretty busy during the academic year.
I love to read, mostly science fiction and dystopian YA books. I also have written a couple of (currently unpublished) novels in the same genre. In 2016, I’ve come to enjoy reading personal development books because I believe that one’s mental and emotional wellbeing are just as important as physical health.
I started this website shortly after my mom passed away suddenly on January 18, 2016 from sepsis after emergency surgery. She was a strong woman who loved to take care of her kids, her pets, and her home. She could do almost anything. To me, she was a superhero. She made the BEST Halloween costumes for me and my brother, always without a pattern. She once wanted to add a garage to her house so she built one. She wanted a picket fence going all around her corner lot, so she made one. I wanted specific dresses for myself and my bridal party for my wedding but had a very tight budget so she made them–5 total dresses for only $96! They were beautiful and absolutely perfect for my big day.
I’ve decided to dedicate this site to her. I hope to keep her memory alive by sharing all of the skills she taught me. I’m not an expert by any means, but I hope that I can continue to develop and grow my own skills. It’s going to be a hard road without her by my side, but I hope her spirit lives on here.
I’m not an expert at anything I share on this site and don’t claim to be one. There are tons of ways to get things done, but the ways I share are just that: the way I do them. If you have alternate or more efficient ways to get things done, please feel free to share in the comments!
